António Carrilho is simultaneously a virtuoso performer on recorders from the Medieval period to modern instruments, a sought-after teacher and chamber coach, and a conductor. This season takes him to Italy, Spain, India, Australia and Japan, as well as conducting Purcell’s The Fairy-Queen with his period-instrument ensemble La Paix du Parnasse at the C.C.B. in Lisbon. His concerts have been broadcast on Brazilian and French radio, and recorded for the Naxos, Encherialis, and Numérica labels. He was a prize-winner at both the Moeck and the Haifa Solo Recorder Competitions, and in other competitions received an audience prize and prizes for interpretation of 17th and 20th Century repertoire. A devoted proponent of contemporary music for recorder, he has premiered innumerable works including several concertos for solo recorder and orchestra.

Lisbon-based American flutist Katharine Rawdon is a Powell Artist, representing the pre-eminent American flute company internationally as a performer and master class teacher. She was Principal Flute of the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Lisbon, for 25 years before leaving to pursue solo, chamber and creative projects. Her repertoire includes solo concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Boulez, and Delgado, which she has performed in New York and California and with the principal Portuguese orchestras. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, and at NFA conventions as an invited soloist. As a chamber musician, she was presented twice at Weill Recital Hall and won First Prize in the Yellow Springs and Artists International Debut Competition. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Pomona College, with honors from the Manhattan School of Music, and was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow.

Pianist Raj Bhimani’s concerts are “virtuosic, heartfelt and eloquent,” writes New York Times critic Michael Kimmelman.  Time Out NY noted him for being a “gifted and highly expressive pianist.”  Mr. Bhimani performs regularly across North America, Europe, and India, and appears regularly at New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.  He has released CDs of Schubert and Thérèse Brenet on the Delatour Label, and two more of Brahms and Ravel for the Editions de la Musique Fabrique.  He taught at NYU, Concordia College, and the 92nd Street Y, and served on the board of The Leschetizky Association. He teaches students of all ages and writes about teaching and other subjects for Serenade Magazine.
